Currently, the Department of Occupational Health and Safety – Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University offers the degree programs in Occupational Health and Safety at all 3 levels; Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral levels. All of our outstanding programs were introduced as the first of the nation and have long been developed continuously, with over 5 decades of experience in teaching and learning, to acheive academic excellence and gain national as well as international recognition in OH&S education.
In response to the dynamics in the world of work and the advancement of involved technology, our curriculums aim to address the broad range of changes that have occurred in recent years. Various strategies and approaches have been applied to prepare human resources who are fulfilled with knowledge, skills and ethics to serve as occupational health and safety professionals. Our sustainability goals are to promote health, well-being together with decent works and economic growth.
Dated back to 1969, our Department was the first in the nation to establish a degree program in Occupational Health at bachelor level. Nowsday, 55 batches of graduates with over 2,000 individuals are serving as OH&S professional throughout the kingdom.
With 55 years of experience in teaching and learning management, the B.Sc. in Occupational Health and Safety has been continuously developed as our core program.
Our program was launced in mid-1980s as the Master of Science Program in Industrial Hygiene and Safety. Later, the program title was changed to Master of Science in Occupational Health and Safety, and was administered as a regular program (courses are operated during weekdays).
Since the program starts, over 35 batches of students (over 300 individuals) have been accumulated.
Due to the demand of prospective students who engages in work during the weekdays, the special program that offers courses during weekends was introduced in early-2000s. This program was designed with lighter load of course work, and requires a thematic paper instead of a thesis.
Since the program starts, over 20 batches of students (over 500 individuals) have been accumulated.
In 2010, our Department was again the first in Thailand to offer the Doctoral Program in Occupational Health and Safety. As an international program, courses are operated in English and foreign students are welcomed.
Since the program starts, there have been an accumulate of 20 students who successfully graduated.
